This is LovanE’s white wine made from red grapes. This wine was made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The Isikhati 2007 received a Diamond Award at the 2010 Investec Wine Makers Choice Awards, a 4.5 Star rating from the Platter Guide and a Bronze medal at the 2010 Veritas Awards.
This is LovanE’s first Bordeaux Blend made from 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.
Only 800 bottles produced.
This duplex, yet elegant wine was matured in French oak for 22 months. Umama, meaning “Mother” in Xhosa is named after Gail for all the love and caring she took with the Petit Verdot vines.
Only 600 bottles produced.
Lovane, being a boutique estate, enabled the Gous family to rate each barrel’s tannins, structure, complexity and palate and to then select specific barrels to be blended together – resulting in the six different 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Xhosa names were carefully chosen for the wines. The flagstones wines are Utata, Tamkulu, Isivuno and Abantwana.
Utata is named after Philip for all the love and enthusiasm he put into the vineyards and the cellar in producing the wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon is well structured wine with deep, complex ripe blackberry flavours.
Only 1,750 bottles produced.
Tamkulu, meaning Grandfather in Xhosa, is dedicated to Gail’s father, reminding us of his strength, wisdom, character and humbleness. Blackcurrant, cinnamon and earthy flavours together with ripe tannins produced this Cabernet Sauvignon with an unique depth and complexity.
Only 1,580 bottles produced.
Lovane Boutique Wine Estate’s first Isivuno “harvest” was in 2006, after establishing new vines on the virgin soil. The grapes were hand-picked and sorted to ensure the best quality. This is an intense, full-bodied and well structured wine with flavours of blackcurrants, cedarwood and smoky cashews.
Only 3,525 bottles produced.
During our harvest party in 2006, we were joined by our special friends to help us celebrate our first harvest. We enjoyed a delicious lamb on the spit and had a real feast after the havest. Umgidi, meaning “Feast” in Xhosa, reminds us of the great time we had with our friends in 2006.
